Use the numbers where the horse stands
globeadnak wrote:I tried "316..." 5 digits. But it is wrong. Please some hints.
The number that passed by the knight's movement to reach the king?

Movement of the horse in chess, 2-1, use only the numbers where the horse finishes its movement

Spoiler tags...
Spoiler!
You are using the numbers which make up the path between the knight's starting point and the king. You may not step on empty space. You may not make illegal moves.
There is only one path.

If location is represented by 8 rows and 8 columns,
The king location is row 2 and col 1,
The knight location is row 8 and col 8.
To get the numbers for solve, I will trace between knight and king using knight steps.
So I will get the sequental numbers 31664 of 3166449985572 that reach until the king location. Is this solve method is wrong ?

I do not have the book with me. I can't tell you what the right answer is, and any guesses should be in spoiler tags so as not to spoil the puzzle for anyone who comes after you.
Spoiler!
Move the knight from starting point to king. Only step on spaces with numbers. It is not a straight line path. The answer is the numbers you step on along the way. There are no other numbers involved.

For some people stuck here:
Spoiler!
Some books come with bad graphics. The 'stain' in de bottem right corner is a 'knight'. I needed this forum for some help and started trying everything. Even after knowing this, i cant see an horse/knight in the corner.
