It's actually not 'Jon', it's 'ion' There are definitely issues with the fonts used on the webpages and the book. It befuddles people unnecessarily. Fortunately, the authors fixed a lot of them in the sequel--check it out!

The dots you mention are the key to solving the puzzle on page 60. How did you solve page 60 without knowing about them? So I've finally completed the book.
