Re: Page 118
This is pathetic. Apart from being incredibly obscure and misleading, it is wrong. The required answer (2378) does NOT represent the numbers on the pool balls identified by the colours Blue, Red Brown and Black. While there is a brown ball in snooker (with different number values) there is no brown ...

Re: Page 98
The previous contributor is generous in describing this as "challenging". It is just "wrong". The puzzles in this book are becoming progressively worse and indefensible. The realisation that water in a glass causes left to right (and right to left) refraction of the pointers/rout...

Re: Page 90
How absurd. This is neither logical nor inventive - it's just obscure, tedious and partially random. I don't believe Einstein would get this without spoilers or hints. (1) Recognise this refers to a website, (2) watch a tedious, 22 minute video to note the appearance of 10 letters (with visibility d...

Re: Page 74
Generally, these journals are interesting and rewarding. However, this is one problem (of a handful) where the print quality is so appalling, or the symbols are so inaccurate and misleading, that it is not clever - it's just annoying. Although the process to reveal the solution is a reasonable chall...

Re: Page 53
The problem is that this is another mistake in the book. It can't be excused by saying there are two pieces between the shape and the required answer. One piece away is a Knight. Three (not two) pieces away results in two options, one of which is the answer required.

Re: Page 47
Clever concept (letters at grid cells with differences) but very poorly executed with what looks like printing imperfections.

Re: Page 30
The page fold is a legitimate, creative challenge. The appalling legibility of the distorted text is ridiculous and unacceptable. I have the answer (5 numbers) but needed many of the hints to read/guess them correctly. My hint: during a visit to Berlin, US President Reagan challenges Gorbachev to te...

Re: Page 1
The smudge is obvious but the clue is disappointing. Who uses this only weekly? How to start a new "day" would have been more appropriate. This clue does not inspire logic, creativity or lateral thinking, so I hope it is not a sign of the standard to come. Gary
