Pretty sure I've sussed out the +yellow thing, but keep getting rebuffed. Certain my typing is correct, but getting nowhere. Can't see the woods for the trees it seems! Any hints guys?

This is a rebus-type puzzle that helps you use words in new ways, which is a common theme among many puzzles in the book. Below are graded hints leading to the solution. It assumes you know [key.1], [key.2], and [key.3]. If you don't know them, go back and do those 3 pages before attempting this one.
Spoiler!
1) Using keywords 1-3, this makes a rebus that says: redwoods - forest + yellow. The answer to the rebus is the answer to the puzzle.
Spoiler!
2) To solve the 1st part of the rebus, you have to subtract 'forest' from 'redwoods'. What part of the word 'redwoods' may be similar to a forest?
Spoiler!
3) 'Forest' and 'woods' are synonyms, so taking 'woods' out of 'redwoods' leaves just 'red'.
Spoiler!
4) The rebus is now 'red + yellow'. If you mix those two colors, what color do you get?
Below is the answer. DO NOT CLICK IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO KNOW THE ANSWER!!

 Remember the answers to the riddle are not the keys these you get from the web site, you may need to go backwards to move forwards!!

Take the synonym for the second key from the first key, then combine the remainder with the third to make a different word, as if mixing them.
Wow..... Wow..... I seriously for the life of me couldn't even figure it out, even when you said think synonyms, I was like "wtf... Synonyms? OK so two completely different words that mean the same thing, so if I take forest out of Redwoods, I'm left with..... Redwoods, I don't get it!!!" I literally missed it completely, I tried so many names, I came so damn close at one point, but still added 'woods' to my answer. Damn... Not until I read this I got the picture and was like" wait a minute.... Dafuq!!!! " in the midst of all this I lost track of the idea that this was an equation. thanks oh wise Yoda

The answer is all lower case. First letter can’t be capitalized. I had answer right, but wasn’t aware it would be case sensitive.
